Karen Quintano
Systemic Family Psychotherapist
Â
Karen is a warranted Family psychotherapist and educator who worked many years in this field. She continued her educational pursuits by enrolling at the Institute of Family Therapy, where she earned a Post-graduate diploma in Systemic Family Psychotherapy and a Master’s degree in the same field.
After her master's, Karen pursued further studies, completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Parental Alienation from the Institute of Family Therapy, Levels 1 and 2 in Gottman Method Couple Therapy, and 'Bringing Baby Home' Educator training from The Gottman Institute. She also finished the Attachment, Neurodevelopment, & Psychopathology (ANP) Course from The Family Relations Institute and is currently focusing on attachment studies there.
As a warranted Systemic Family Therapist, Karen supports families who deal with a range of difficulties, including but not limited to marital and couple troubles, issues with communication, trouble adjusting during a big change such as transitioning to parenthood and other parenting difficulties, working with children and teenagers within the family subsystem.
In therapy, she believes it is critical to establish a secure atmosphere where clients may discuss their issues and communicate more easily. Karen feels that by working together with her clients, the therapy process can help individuals, couples, and families recognise and highlight their greatest assets, which they can then use to better their current and future circumstances.Â
At MyMama, Karen offers in-person and online therapy sessions to couples and families. Usually at the beginning of your sessions, she would get to know you and your family to get an idea of your entire system. This would lead to some individual sessions where the aim would be to delve deeper into your narratives. Initially you would meet once a week, then move to increase the gap between sessions until you arrive at therapy's natural conclusion. Karen looks forward to being a part of your journey!
